Huckabee calls Clinton 'brilliant' and 'very strong'
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee sounded like he was close to making a presidential endorsement Friday -- for potential presidential rival Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-New York.
"She's focused, disciplined, brilliant," the GOP presidential candidate told CNN's Wolf Blitzer. "She has all of the qualities that make for a truly outstanding candidate." Huckabee added that Republicans are underestimating "her as a very strong and very viable candidate," and argued he, as the former Arkansas governor, is likely to know Clinton's positions better than any other GOP candidate running for president. Regarding his GOP rivals, Huckabee said he'd like to "ask" former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani about his positions on "abortion and gun control," Arizona Sen. John McCain on "why he did McCain/Feingold finance reform," and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney on whether his positions on certain social issues "have really changed and why they changed." Huckabee, who formed an exploratory committee in February, has yet to formally announce his presidential bid but predicted Friday, "I will be the [GOP] nominee for president." -- CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney
