Sen. Johnson making progress
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Tim Johnson, who suffered a brain hemorrhage in December, continues to make progress, his doctor said in a statement released Friday by the senator's office.
The South Dakota Democrat "is actively making decisions about his healthcare and expressing his opinions about his daily activities," Dr. Philip Marion, medical director for the Department of Rehabilitative Medicine at George Washington University Hospital, said in the statement. Johnson's wife, Barbara, said the family is "impressed" with the senator's progress and optimistic about the future. "Even though there is a long road ahead to complete recovery, we feel that we have gotten 'our Tim' back," she said. -- CNN's Alexander Mooney and Ted Barrett
