Reid schedules Iraq vote Saturday, causing headaches for some '08ers
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Demanding an "up-or-down vote," Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday the Senate will vote Saturday on the House resolution condemning the troop increase in Iraq.
"The resolution says we support the troops and oppose the escalation of the presence in Iraq," the Nevada Democrat said. "We're determined to give our troops and the American people the debate they deserve." Reid's decision to stage a weekend vote causes headaches for at least four presidential candidates. Sens. Joe Biden, D-Delaware, Chris Dodd, D-Connecticut, John McCain, R-Arizona, and Barack Obama, D-Illinois, are all scheduled to be on the campaign trail Saturday. -- CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney
