President has two moles removed from head; believed benign
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush had two moles removed from his head Friday, but both are believed to be benign, a White House spokesman told CNN.
Bush underwent the five-minute procedure about 3 p.m., spokesman Scott Stanzel said. Dermatologist Steve Krivda from Bethesda/Walter Reed Medical Center and Bush's regular doctor, Richard Tubb, removed the moles from the president's left temple. Stanzel called the procedure routine. Results of the shaved biopsy will be available next week, he said. A local anesthetic was used for the procedure, he said. Bush has a 1-inch scab on his left temple that is expected to heal in a week to 10 days, but does not have a bandage, Stanzel said. He said Bush noticed one mole and had Tubb examine it Monday. Tubb then noticed the second mole and suggested they both be removed. Bush had lesions removed from his face in December 2001 and December 2004. His last physical was in August 2006, the White House said. --CNN's Suzanne Malveaux and Liz Flynn
