Obama previews '08 announcement on the web
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A day before Sen. Barack Obama officially declares his candidacy for president, the Illinois Democrat called on his supporters Friday to activate their political networks to help him raise money and develop grassroots support for his campaign.
"I am absolutely convinced that we can do a different kind of campaign, one that opens up the process and empowers everyday voters all across the country," Obama said in a video posted on his presidential exploratory committee website. On Saturday, Obama will formally say he is running for the Democratic presidential nomination in Springfield, Illinois and then head to Iowa, which hosts the country's first presidential contest.
