House debate set for resolution criticizing Bush's Iraq plan
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Some of the most dramatic debate surrounding the nearly four-year-old Iraq war is expected to begin Tuesday over a House of Representatives resolution criticizing President Bush's plan to increase troops by more than 20,000.
House Democrats on Monday unveiled the simple, two-sentence resolution that says "Congress disapproves" of Bush's decision to send additional forces to Iraq, which has been wracked by increased sectarian and insurgent attacks. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, is slated to begin addressing the House around noon ET Tuesday. Full story |
