Dodd asks party to give him a chance
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Chris Dodd, the first presidential candidate to speak at the Democratic National Committee's winter meeting, asked party activists not to forget he's part of what has become a crowded 2008 presidential field.
"Today, and over the coming 12 months, I'm standing before you to ask you to give me a chance, to give me a chance to be heard, to make my case for my candidacy for the presidency of the United States in 2008," Dodd said. The Connecticut Democrat railed against the Bush Administration's policies on a host of issues, and ended with an appeal to bipartisanship -- but with one caveat. "Bipartisanship to me does not mean getting Democrats to agree with Republican principles," he said. "It means getting Republicans to agree to Democratic principles." -- CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney
