Spokesman: Tancredo not ready to announce White House bid
WASHINTON (CNN) -- Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colorado, will not announce a run for president while in Iowa this weekend, a spokesman for the congressman tells CNN.
This comes after an article in Friday's edition of the Des Moines Register reported that Tancredo would announce a bid for the White House while touring the Hawkeye State this weekend. Tancredo, most known for his support of strict immigration reform, will be in Council Bluffs and Des Moines this weekend to promote his latest book, but has no other public events scheduled, according to Carlos Espinosa, a Tancredo spokesman. The congressman will hold several private meetings with Iowa activists about a possible White House bid, and will also meet with the members of the Des Moines Register staff. -- CNN Political Research Director Robert Yoon
