Sen. Clinton to Iraq: a matter of timing
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sens. Hillary Clinton, D-New York, and Evan Bayh, D-Indiana, had hoped their planned trip to Iraq and Afghanistan would not conflict with the Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on Iraq -- originally scheduled for Thursday but delayed until Friday morning, a Clinton spokesman tells CNN.
When the Armed Services Committee hearing was moved to Friday, "an attempt was made to delay the departure so they could attend, but it was impossible," Clinton spokesman Philippe Reines said. Rep. John McHugh, R-New York, is also traveling on the trip. -- CNN Congressional Correspondent Dana Bash
