Pelosi and Reid criticize Bush on Iraq
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, criticized President Bush Tuesday for his Iraq strategy and healthcare plan, but welcomed Bush's "overtures of bipartisanship" in his State of the Union address.
"Last November, Americans asked all of us in Washington to work together," the two congressional Democrats stated in a joint press release following Bush's speech. "Democrats will continue to take America in a new direction by making our nation energy secure, improving access to affordable health care, cutting costs for middle class families, and working to end the war in Iraq."
