Murtha disappointed with 'no credible benchmarks'
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Rep. Jack Murtha, D-Pennsylvania, reiterated his opposition to President Bush's call for more U.S. forces in Iraq Thursday and said he is disappointed the president did not set specific "benchmarks" for the Iraqis to meet.
"I am particularly disappointed that there are no credible benchmarks and no way to measure the military and economic progress of this operation," Murtha, chair of the House Appropriations Committee's powerful defense subcommittee, said in a statement. "There is no incentive for the Iraqis to take over." -- CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney
