McConnell: GOP may filibuster Dems' Iraq resolution
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said Thursday his party may filibuster a Democratic-sponsored resolution opposing President Bush's new Iraq strategy.
McConnell refused to predict however if he could muster the votes to carry out a filibuster -- something that is in doubt because several Republicans have joined most Democrats in publicly opposing Mr. Bush's troop increase. A non-binding resolution opposing that increase is expected to be introduced next week but Democratic leadership aides say they are unsure when a final vote will take place. -- CNN Congressional Producer Ted Barrett
