McCain on Dobson: 'I do not intend to call him'
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. John McCain said Wednesday he does not plan to reach out to Dr. James Dobson, despite indicating earlier that he sought to make amends with the prominent Christian conservative.
"I do not intend to call him," the Arizona Republican and likely presidential candidate said when asked if he planed to contact Dobson after he criticized McCain's stance on same-sex marriage and told a Dallas radio station, "I pray that we won't get stuck with him." McCain also told reporters he has never spoken with Dobson. While stumping in South Carolina Tuesday, McCain expressed disappointment over Dobson's comments and said he hoped to have a 'dialogue' with him. "I'd like to continue and have a dialogue with Dr. Dobson and other members of the community," McCain said. -- CNN Congressional Producer Deirdre Walsh
