Lou Holtz to address House Republicans
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former college football coach Lou Holtz will be one of the featured speakers at the House Republican retreat this week, two GOP Congressional sources tell CNN. In addition to Holtz, a football analyst for ESPN and a motivational speaker, President Bush will speak to House Republicans on Friday. The House recessed early on Wednesday so Republicans could travel to Maryland's Eastern Shore for their annual, two-day closed door retreat. One GOP leadership aide said the primary focus is to discuss issues and strategies for moving proposals as the minority party. The aide added that the retreat will also include sessions to discuss "what went wrong, what went right, and where do we go from here?" House Democrats have scheduled their annual retreat for Feb 1-3rd in Williamsburg, Va. President Bush is scheduled to address the Democrats' gathering next Saturday, his first time at the retreat since 2001. -- CNN Congressional Producer Deirdre Walsh |
