Hunter set to announce presidential run in South Carolina
Washington (CNN) -- Congressman Duncan Hunter will formally launch his presidential campaign at the end of this month, the California Republican tells CNN.
Hunter will make it official in Spartanburg, South Carolina on January 25 and then travel to crucial presidential campaign states Iowa and New Hampshire in the days following. Beyond being an early primary state, Hunter's focus on South Carolina makes political sense given the state's large military population and concern over trade policy -- two issues central to his platform. "The location represents my campaign," Hunter said. -- CNN Senior Political Producer Sasha Johnson
