Edwards to place anti-war ad in Roll Call
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Sen. John Edwards, D-North Carolina, will place an ad in Roll Call, a Capitol Hill newspaper, urging Congress to use its appropriations power to prevent a troop escalation in Iraq, Edward's campaign manager David Bonior wrote in an e-mail Wednesday to supporters.
"The test for today's Congress is simple: will they step up to the plate and use their power to stop the president from escalating the war," Bonior wrote in the note urging supporters to sign the petition and make a donation to finance it. "I can tell you one thing -- they're only going to do that if they hear from you." Edwards is running for the Democratic presidential nomination and several of his potential rivals are currently serving in Congress. Bonior is a former House Minority Whip who retired in 2003. -- CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney
