Cheney: Bin Laden still alive
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Vice President Dick Cheney told CNN on Wednesday he thinks Osama bin Laden is still alive, but claimed U.S. efforts have "done a lot of damage" to the senior leadership of al Qaeda.
"Obviously, he's well hidden," Cheney said when asked by CNN's Wolf Blitzer why coalition forces have not been successful in finding bin Laden. "We've been looking for him for some time. I think the fact is, he's gone totally [underground] -- he doesn't communicate, except perhaps by courier, he's not up on the air, he's not putting out videos, the way he did oftentimes in the past." Cheney also brushed aside criticisms that the war in Iraq has taken the Bush administration's focus off the hunt for Bin Laden. "We can do more than one thing at a time and we have," Cheney said. Wolf Blitzer's full interview will air today on "The Situation Room." -- CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney
