Bush to meet with military leaders on Afghanistan, Iraq
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- While continuing talks about Iraq, President Bush turns his attention Wednesday to the conflict in Afghanistan, White House Deputy Press Secretary Dana Perino told reporters aboard Air Force One.
Around 1:10 p.m. ET, Bush will meet with Gen. Dan McNeil, set to become the first American to serve as commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan. The president then meets combatant commanders and members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff about four hours later. Initial discussions will focus on budgetary issues, the Iraq war and how to counter Taliban forces, before the participants move to the White House residence for dinner. |
