Brownback to tour Middle East, Africa, Asia
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Kansas GOP Sen. Sam Brownback announced Friday he plans to travel to the Middle East, Africa and Asia in the coming weeks on a mission to "ascertain firsthand U.S. efforts in the war on terror."
According to a statement released by the senator's office, the presidential hopeful is slated to meet with American troops and U.S. representatives in Ethiopia, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. "We must continue to pursue a global strategy to thwart terrorism and I look forward to meeting with leaders from several nations that have been very helpful in and on the front lines of the global war on terror," Brownback said in the statement. Brownback established a presidential exploratory committee last month and has indicated he will decide on an official run for the White House in the coming weeks. -- CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney
