Biden: Bush plan a "tragic mistake"
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Delaware Democratic Sen. Joe Biden, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and a likely presidential candidate, told Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice that he believes President Bush's plan to increase Iraq troop levels Thursday is a "tragic mistake."
"We heard a plan to escalate the war, not only in Iraq but possibly into Syria and Iran as well, Biden said at the opening of a Senate Foreign Relations hearing in which Rice testified. "I believe the President's strategy is not a solution, secretary rice, I believe it is a tragic mistake." -- CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney
