Clinton turns to communications veteran
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-New York, will add a respected Democratic operative to her campaign team if she decides to run for president. Phil Singer, a longtime aide to Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-New York, said he would join Clinton's presidential exploratory committee if she takes the next step towards a potential White House bid. "Senator Clinton would be an excellent president and I'm going to do everything I can to help her win if she decides to run for the White House," Singer said in an interview. Singer is currently the communications director for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee where he won praise for his rapid response operation. For now, Singer continues to work at the DSCC, which is chaired by Schumer. But Singer is also currently serving in an informal advisory role to Clinton. Meanwhile, the senator is holding private meetings with New York Democrats as she considers a bid for president. -- CNN Political Editor Mark Preston |
