Bush: ISG report a chance to find 'common ground'
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Promising to "take every proposal seriously" and "act in a timely fashion," President Bush Wednesday received the Iraq Study Group's much anticipated report on the war in Iraq.
The president, while not commenting specifically on any proposals, said the report was "an opportunity to come together" and end the "purely political bickering" that has marred the political discourse about the war. "This report will give us all an opportunity to find common ground for the good of the country, not just for the Republican Party or the Democratic Party, but for the entire country," the president said. Bush thanked the 10-member commission, chaired by former Secretary of State James Baker, a Republican, and former Democratic Rep. Lee Hamilton, for their months of work on the report. |
