Pelosi plans busy first 100 hours
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Members of the 110th Congress will spend their first 100 legislative hours tackling a number of key Democratic agenda items if incoming Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, gets her way.

House Democrats will focus on raising the minimum wage, implementing the 9/11 Commission recommendations, reforming health care, limiting deficit spending, cutting interest rates on federally subsidized student loans, ending subsidies for large oil companies, and permitting federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research, Pelosi announced Tuesday.

"In the first 100 legislative hours, Democrats will get to work immediately to restore civility, integrity, and fiscal responsibility to the House, while increasing prosperity, opportunity, and security for all Americans," Pelosi said in a statement.

This month's midterm elections gave Democrats control of the House and Senate for the first time in over a decade.
