Mehlman heads to Kentucky and Maryland
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman is scheduled to drop in on two closely fought congressional races Friday as he heads into his final campaign push four days before voters head to the polls.
Mehlman first heads to a rally in Kentucky's 4th District -- playing witness to a tight race between GOP incumbent Rep. Geoff Davis and former Democratic Rep. Ken Lucas. Mehlman then drops in on the tight race for Maryland's open Senate seat between Democratic Rep. Ben Cardin and Lt. Gov. Michael Steele. Cardin's lead has dwindled in recent polls, fueling GOP hopes that Steele may win this blue state seat being vacated by retiring Democratic Sen. Paul Sarbanes.
