McCaskill, Talent set for long night in Missouri
ST. LOUIS, Missouri -- The polls have finally closed in the Missouri Senate race and both sides are digging in for what they expect will be a long night.

Democrat Claire McCaskill is trying to unseat Republican Jim Talent. Both sides said their base of voters turned out in large numbers today. Indeed, reports came in from around the state that turnout was high -- higher than normal for midterm elections here.

And that's exactly what both campaigns tell us they were hoping for, because in a tight race, voter turnout usually makes or breaks you.

One key organizer for the Democrats said he expects it to take so long to count all the ballots he didn't even bother to book a hotel room for tonight. He expects he'll be up all night and won't need to use it.
