Duckworth, supporters play the wait game
OAKBROOK TERRACE, Illinois (CNN) -- At a banquet hall called Drury Lane in this Chicago suburb, Democrat Tammy Duckworth sits on an overstuffed couch in a room near where the rest of her supporters are gathering. The media line up to get her picture as she watches the returns in her congressional contest come in on television. One TV crew is from Britain, another from Japan. Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin is nearby giving optimistic interviews. Duckworth is a disabled Iraq veteran who lost both her legs. Now, as a candidate in a GOP stronghold, when she calls for a gradual withdrawal from Iraq, she gets a lot of attention. Supporters mill about. There's no sense of disappointment or celebration yet. It's too soon. Numbers are slowly trickling in. -- CNN Correspondent Keith Oppenheim
