CNN projects Sanders, Lugar wins in Indiana, Vermont Senate races
(CNN) -- Independent Rep. Bernie Sanders will win the U.S. Senate race in Vermont, defeating Republican nominee Richard Tarrant, and Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Richard Lugar will defeat Libertarian candidate Steve Osborn to hold his seat in Indiana, CNN projects.
Sanders has pledged to caucus with the Democrats. He replaces retiring Independent Sen. Jim Jeffords, who caucuses with the Democrats. In Indiana, Lugar had no Democratic challenger. |
