Gonzales: "We consider these allegations very seriously"
From CNN Correspondent Susan Roesgen
NEW ORLEANS (CNN) -- Attorney General Albert Gonzales told CNN Tuesday the Department of Justice is pursuing an investigation of former Rep. Mark Foley's e-mail correspondence with House pages, but declined to offer specifics about the case. "We notified the Speaker that the FBI and the Department of Justice are in the process of gathering up facts," Gonzales said in a brief interview before delivering a speech to the 2006 National Conference on Human Trafficking in New Orleans. "The protection of our children is a top priority. Obviously we consider these allegations very seriously but it's early in the process and so please allow us to do our jobs and help children remain safe." |
