Dean: Democrats will raise the minimum wage if they take over Congress
From CNN Political Editor Mark Preston
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean predicted one of the first things Democrats will do is raise the minimum wage if his party wins the congressional majority in November. "Initially, I think what we'll do is raise the minimum wage, which the president refused to do without giving tax breaks to his contributors," Dean said in an interview on CNN's "Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer." Dean also said Democrats would not increase taxes on the middle class, but added that "we're not going to be the party of tax breaks to oil companies and insurance companies." America Votes 2006 |
