Bush and Cheney have raised more than $220 million for GOP

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Despite being plagued by low approval ratings, President Bush and Vice President Cheney have raised more than $220 million this election cycle for the Republican Party, according to figures provided to CNN by the Republican National Committee. Bush, alone, has raked in nearly $188 million, while headlining 80 events including a private fundraiser in Georgetown Friday that took in about $900,000 for the RNC. As of Friday, Cheney had attended 113 events that raised $40 million. Meanwhile, first lady Laura Bush, who has been very active on the campaign trail of late, has attended 45 events that raised more than $15 million for the GOP and candidates. |
