Gore still whipping up the party faithful
From CNN's Alex Mooney
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Vice President Al Gore is keeping his fundraising skills primed, most recently in a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee e-mail message where asks for contributions to fend off an impending GOP "smear" campaign this fall. "Forty-three days from now, we can wake up with a Democratic majority in the Senate and put an end to George Bush's extreme, right-wing regime. Or we can wake up and wonder why we didn't do enough, why we allowed ourselves to be Swift-boated by hateful Republican attack ads," said Gore in his message. This is the latest of several fundraising pitches the 2000 Democratic presidential nominee has sent this year on behalf of the DSCC and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The e-mails are sent to party activists and donors nationwide. Gore repeatedly has said that he is not planning to run for president again in 2008, but has stopped short of ruling seeking public office again in the future. |
