Cornyn: Clinton should own up to mistakes
From CNN's Ted Barrett
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- In the latest reaction from the Hill on President Clinton's combative interview with Fox News yesterday, Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, told CNN he believes that Clinton should accept more of the blame for not capturing Osama Bin Laden. "I thought his demeanor told the story. He obviously was very upset. I though it was a fair question, certainly one other people have been asked about. But he was expecting, I guess, to have some adulation and praise for the work he's done, which he deserves some credit for. But the fact is it was eight years on his watch when Al Qaeda was at war with America, and it started at least in 1993 and led up to 2001. So for him to claim he is blameless on this issue, I think there is more than enough criticism to go around, and he ought to own up to it." |
