Balt. Sun: Poll shows Cardin lead over Steele
Democratic Rep. Ben Cardin is leading Republican Lt. Governor Michael Steele by 11 points in the race for Maryland's Senate seat, according to a Baltimore Sun poll published in Monday's edition.
Cardin leads Steele 51 percent to 40 percent, according to the Sun poll conducted by Potomac Inc. of Bethesda, Maryland. But newspaper quotes James Gimpel, a University of Maryland government professor, as saying, "This is not the kind of lead that's insurmountable at this stage." Gimpel goes on to say, "Cardin has a lead to protect, and Steele has to be the more aggressive campaigner, probably take a few more risks." The poll, conducted by Potomac Inc., surveyed 815 likely voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percent. |
