Floyd contamination worries N.C. fishermen
October 14, 1999 ORIENTAL, North Carolina (CNN) -- Oyster season opens Friday in North Carolina, where most shellfish beds and waterways contaminated last month during Hurricane Floyd have now received a clean bill of health. But long-term worries loom, because of a "dead zone"-- an area of little oxygen and almost no fish in Pamlico Sound, one of the country's most important fish nurseries.
