(CNN) -- Hurricane Floyd's foray up the East Coast has raised
concerns about beach erosion, particularly in North Carolina,
which was already recovering from the destructive force of
Hurricane Dennis.
Researchers are now bouncing laser beams from airplanes to
make three-dimensional models of the beach damage. As Science
Correspondent Ann Kellan found, the hope is that the
information can be used to discourage building in erosion-
prone areas.
