KUWAIT (CNN) -- The environmental terrorism of the Gulf War created some of the conflict's most lasting and disturbing images: vast fires, petroleum lakes, an ocean thick with oil.

In the eight years since then, Kuwait has been the site of remarkable cleanup efforts. But the results are mixed. CNN's Natalie Pawelski gives a progress report on the nation's recovery from catastrophe.
