Don't forget sunscreen! Fellas, that means you too

sun July 3, 1998
Web posted at: 4:23 p.m. EDT (2023 GMT)

(CNN) -- As you head out the door for fun in the sun, you need to make sure you're equipped with sunscreen.

And guys, take note: The sun's harmful effects don't know the difference between men and women.

A recent study from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found men are reluctant to use sunscreens. Men, the CDC says, associate the items with cosmetics.

Research does not show that sunscreens prevent skin cancer, but it does show that they can reduce skin damage caused by the sun's harmful rays. Doctors say products that block both UVA and UVB rays give the best protection.

For more, check out correspondent Rhonda Rowland's report.
