Help! My Apartment Has a Dining Room
Author Kevin Mills teams up with his mother, Nancy Mills, for a follow-up to their previous collaboration, "Help! My Apartment has a Kitchen." The duo earns high marks for a collection of tasty recipes and easy-to-follow directions.
Each dish comes with such tips and warnings from "Mom" as where to find puff pastry sheets at the grocery store or how not to treat your pasta.
Recipes represent a range of tastes, from "Tandori Chicken" and "Spicy Lentils and Spinach" to "Crunchy Baked Fish" and "Garlic Mashed Potatoes." There also are several vegetarian dishes, including "Black Bean Lasagna" and "Mushroom Turnovers."
Appetizers to whet the taste buds incllude "Artichoke Dip" and "Bruschetta." Desserts include "Pears in Red Wine" and "Chocolate Cheesecake."
Each recipe comes with such helpful information as preparation time, cooking time, difficulty level and whether the food can be prepared ahead of time. They do not, however, give any nutritional information.
The book has various informative resources, such as a list of planned menus for entertaining. In the mood for Mexican? Russian? Check out the "Around the World Without Leaving the Dining Room" section.
There also are answers to such common questions as how to present your food dishes and how to stretch your money. Special sections offer basics on wine, coffee and barbecuing.
