(CNN) -- Each year, from November through Christmas, Joann Watson spends everyday baking and decorating more than 20 gingerbread houses.

Bowls of candy, pounds of frosting, and arm loads of love go into making these delicious dwellings, which she gives as gifts to family and friends.

"They're very popular. People like to get them, They're nice gifts," she says. Those on the receiving end often save the houses for use as a centerpiece the following year.

From walls to windows to rooftops, the entire structure is edible -- some even play music.
