Yield:8 cups

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 egg white, lightly beaten
  • 2 1/2 tbsp water
  • 8 cups pecan halves
  • 3/4 tsp edible gold leaf powder (optional)
  • Stir together first 8 ingredients in a bowl. Add pecans -- stir until coated.

Spread into lightly greased aluminum foil-lined pan.

Bake at 275 degrees Fahrenheit, for 50 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove from pan; cool on wax paper.

    To add gold leaf powder:

Place in heavy duty, zip-lock plastic bag.

Sprinkle with gold leaf powder, shaking to coat.

    Store in airtight container.

Note: You can find gold leaf powder in most cooking specialty stores.
