To make the perfect hard-boiled egg, it is important to cook the egg as gently as you would handle it. The egg should actually be simmered, not boiled.

1. Place eggs in a pot.
2. Pour just enough water into the pot to cover the eggs. |

3. Place on the stove and bring to a simmer.
4. Simmer gently for 15 minutes. |

5. Remove and plunge eggs into cold water.
