The White Board

It's ironic. In this interactive age, we use a white eraser board to quickly move stories along each step to ultimate life on the Web. The board is divided into 11 categories. As each step is completed, a check mark is placed in the appropriate box. The categories correspond to the people who need to work their magic.

It breaks down like this:

Story Slug | Writer | Associate Producer | Folder (e.g. "World News," "Showbiz")| Elements | Elements In | Copy Edit | Time Ready | Web Editor | Web Ready | Destination

The white board makes it easy for anyone in the newsroom to check the status of a story just by glancing to the center of the room. It also forces us to get out of our chairs once in awhile.
