The Editorial Meeting:
Each producer holds a daily editorial meeting.
The producer:
- Discusses the daily rundown, telling the staff what each story is about.
- Asks the group if they have anything to add.
- Assigns graphics for each story to the multimedia designer
- Assigns Lexis-Nexis topics to the editorial assistant to find additional background information.
- Suggests linking possibilities for the web editors.
Stories are picked up by each writer-associate producer team as they become available. It means you "have to be an expert on everything," says Producer Suzanne Eichner. "It pushes stories through faster."
