Q: Which story in the past twelve months has most affected you and why?
See what our readers had to say.
I thought your OJ Simpson coverage was important. It was thorough and timely, but unlike the rest of the media -- I could pick and choose from it on my terms rather than be inundated with it for months on end.
I watched your announcement of the verdict with particular interest since I wanted to see what impact the sudden burst of activity would have on your site and on the Internet in general. It didn't bring the Internet to its knees but the delays in getting pages were significant. I guess that kind of delay will be a new measure of public interest in an event.

The most important story you've covered for me has been the TWA crash of flight 800. Living here in Westhampton Beach I was aware of the crash shortly after it happened. Fire engines and helicopters were going everywhere. I've seen bits of debris on the beach and feel the overwhelming sadness at such a tragic accident. Your coverage has been very up to date and informative. I look forward to checking the news every morning before I start my day. Thank you and keep up the good work.
The Valujet plane crash and coverage surrounding the airline impacted me the most. It affected me personally as I knew one of the victims. Thank you for keeping us up to date and keeping the memory alive.
My favorite day was the Mars life discovery. I kept checking back throughout the day, getting better and better info. I especially loved the links to very detailed background about meteors (Caltech, NASA) and even HG Wells' War of the Worlds. I went to dinner with some friends after work and they had only heard bits on the radio. I felt like a genius. CNN.COM has greatly raised my self expectation of keeping informed.
If you don't check CNN regularly, you just aren't paying attention!
I use CNN as my first bookmark on the net. When the TWA flight went down I was able to check in and out and receive updates in between work. I was impressed with the speed of the site and the quality of the information.
Happy anniversary. Keep up the good work.

There have been so many interesting stories I can't really say which has affected me most. Maybe it was that of Yitzhak Rabin's death. What I can attest to is that: Man's basic needs are food, clothing, shelter and CNN. CNN is addictive, I often wonder what I would do if CNN did not exist.
I thought you did an excellent job of covering the TWA disaster and the Olympics. Your site is the best site for coverage of any news story and you did a particularly great job of covering both events. Also, your AllPolitics section is a "must see" for anyone who wishes to know everything happening in the run for the White House.
As I have said before, CNN is the BEST Website on the Internet!
Congratulations and best of luck in the coming year!

I am far more informed about the '96 election than any other, thanks to your up-to-the-minute, factual, well referenced and well organized site. I feel confident that my vote will be the right one. Happy anniversary -- may you have many more.
The assassination of Yitzhak Rabin was the most dramatic event. It really affected and has changed the peace process in the Middle East. Best wishes to you on your anniversary.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vijay Khanijow,
I think the election of Benjamin Netanyahu as Prime Minister of Israel stands out as one of the greatest accomplishments of the past year. No longer will Israel be handed over to terrorists without any assurance of an end to the bloodshed. Israel will now negotiate from a position of strength and the people of Israel will no longer have to endure the underhanded and lying tactics of the previous regime.

Highlights for me were: -Assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin -O.J.'s acquittal, and the way opinions were divided along racial lines. -Lawyer books by: Christopher Darden, the O.J. lawyer with the thick eyebrows (forgot his name), etc.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Happy anniversary!
The online coordinators at CNN Interactive read all the e-mail that our users send us. Over the past year, we've read and sorted through more than 150,000 responses. Each day, we put together a comments page that reflects the most prominent issues addressed by readers, and work to include the spectrum of opinions on those subjects. A good deal of the e-mail received reflects the thoughtful opinions of our users. But out of those many, there are a few that we're not quite sure what to do with. Call them interesting, call them odd - they certainly are different:
Are they talking about the Endeavour?
The space ship should just leave the landing gear open and a parachute.
The Butt sisters
Hurricane Bertha reminds me of a song from my childhood (late '60s, early '70s). It was about cavemen. The only line I remember is: "Bertha Butt, one of the Butt Sisters." Does anyone recall the name of this song and who sang it?
Things not to try
Do you know how we put an elephant into a refrigerator? There are three steps. Think......First, open the door. Second, put the elephant into the refrigerator. Third, close the door. That's all. Is not funny?
I would like to be a model, but am very petite. I am only 4'11", 98 lbs, long brown hair, brown eyes, great figure. I have...been in beauty contests, 1st runner up. and Miss Photogenic. I have even been stopped on the street and told that I should be a model...but it hasn't gotten me anywhere.
Where in the world is Julie?
I need to get in contact with Julie. I had a story about a drug ship sunk in Barbados as an artificial reef by divers. My computer had crashed a while back and then I was off island. Please forward this to her.
Julie please contact me again,
Please muffle your Harley
As someone who lives in the city I am sick of hearing Harleys with no mufflers that people think sound good.
Exactly what is the life span of a Big Mac on Airforce 1?
I would like to see more pictures pleeeeeeze. Especially of nude men
Does anyone remember the Great Grape Ape? Where is he? He was the best! How has he been all these years anyway. Please contact me with any information you may have concerning his whereabouts!!!!
Hello, have you seen or noticed my faces in the clouds. If you're wondering how on Earth I did that I would love to share it with you. Then maybe I can get rid of this stinking curse. If you want to know more please contact me. I uncovered a big mystery. I mean a really big mystery.
