BEIJING (CNN) -- Bao-Bao, a baby golden money bred at Beijing's zoo, is being displayed to the public after making good progress since his birth last April.
Golden monkeys, which live in forests at high altitudes, are found only in four of China's 30 provinces. They have become nearly extinct after destruction of their natural environment by logging and development. They are also hunted for food and their body parts.
The monkeys are difficult to breed in captivity. Since 1994, only 13 have been born in zoos.
