ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, Colorado (CNN) -- On crisp autumn days, as dusk falls in Rocky Mountain National Park, the bull elks come looking for a date.
Their strange and decidedly unsexy mating calls lure the lady elks and dozens of nature lovers who come to hear "the call of the wild."
Those in the know call it elk "bugling," but to the layman, the haunting calls sound like a wailing woman. (145K AIFF sound or 145K WAV sound)(486K QuickTime movie)
