Syria To Open Embassy In Lebanon
A poster shows Syrian President Bashar Assad, left, and Lebanese Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, right, attached on a window shop with an Arabic writing that reads :" God protect Syria and Lebanon," in downtown Damascus, Syria, Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008.Assad issued a decree on Tuesday establishing diplomatic relations with Lebanon - a move reflecting Syria's readiness to meet key Western demands toward regional issues as it pursues indirect peace talks with Israel. Hi Hala,
I would like just to say if syria wants to come to the table & play..( It Needs to lay all it's cards down). Yes it is a good step moving foward for an embassy to open in lebanon but more needs to be done. Firstly it needs to change & when I say change I mean the Dictator goverment needs to change inorder for syria to change & move forward. The Second step is for syria to odmit to all the assasintions it has comitted in lebannon over the years including the lebanese civil war & release all the innocnet prisoners it has kidnapped in the civil war.( We can't change the past but we can learn form the past,Also include governance to make sure it never happens again). Living in the middle east prevousily & now living in the west for a lobbg time you get to understand both prospectives. Seeing things from the outside you get the see the errors & destruction that is happenning in the middle from exsisting goverments & Western intervetion. Just like America needs to change as Barrack Obama says, In my opionin we need change in the middle east in order for the people to start living like humans beings rather than slaves & animals, Beacuse it's all about the people... P.S Hala I love all your shows & Keep up the good work. Sam From downunder
This is sad... a dictator and a terrorist together. As if they haven't done enough damages to the people of Syria and Lebanon.

well may be you have proof that Syria committed all these crimes. why dont you show it to the world court? the funny part in your post is that Syria was responsible for the civil war.as a Lebanese my self who was in Lebanon at the time ,what I know that Syria came to Lebanon under a mandate from the Arab league and the acceptance of the Lebanese government, to stop the civil war after the Lebanese Militias slaughtered 100.000 of their people. after that we all know that Syria overstayed in Lebanon and some bad things happened, but it was more the fault of the Lebanese not the Syrians.
9:41 Syria made horrors in Lebanon killing innocent civilians, stealing the country, fobidding freedom of speach in media. There are hundreds of innocent civilians still in Syrian jail. History cannot be forgotten.
To the anonymous who replied..firstly thank you for your reply...
The second point just to clarify... I was not impleying that syria created the civil war...But what it did was to suck the lebanese economy dry,Kidnapped people, kill People,Steal from people & created a hostle enviroment. We should face the facts & put in place laws in the middle east that no one is above the law & we all should be accountable for our actions because this is the way people learn. Rather than break the law, destroy a nation & sweep everything under the carpet.. Also i would like to add the syrians controlled the intellegience services in lebanon through the time of the let's say the lawful & unlawful stay.. I lived in lebanon so I understand.. I saw the syrians on a day to the day bases..I saw what they did to people etc..& I understand the arab league authorised the dictator Hafiz Al Asad with American Apporval not to mention. Who Terrorised the country.. Just a quick remark.. In Lebanon at the time when the syrians were there..If you looked at the pictures of Hafiz Al Asad or his sons while walking down the street and criticised it..You were taken to jail god knows were to be never seeing again. Please understand I'm not here to take shots at anyone but let's face reality syria is in Serious trouble with the international community including it's sorrunding neighbours due to the fact it has been playing the waiting game rather than to be proactive & really open up to the world which in return will only benefit its people rather than the dictator that's currently in power. As for the international court it's on its way buddy don't worry.. But it's been delayed due to some hurdles that have popped up for example the killing of the top Syrian Secret Service Commander Gazi Kanan who was stationed in lebanon through out the syrian stay & who appreantly committed surcide just a short time before he was going to face the international court for a hearing. The syrian goverments response to that( This family likes to commit surcide). That has to be the chepeast statement i've heard...kids on the street wouldn't buy it. Also fact there was not an investment that was happening in lebanon without the syrians getting a cut of the money otherwise it wouldn't go ahead... That is the syrian regime just to put it sweetly. If you really want to dig into the past of the lebanese war.. Then let's do it..Firstly kamal Janblat the father of waled Janblat.. The only arab leader who wanted to free palistine & the person who cut his objective was the dictator of syria at the time Hafiz Al sad.. The rest i'll leave it up to you to really think about it & really look back on lebanese history & politics rather than bring up statments that you might of heard at a family gathering etc without any subtanial evidence respectively becuase that were most arab kids & adults get the talk from rather than the facts... Issues aside wouldn't you love to walk down the road in lebanon or drive through a town & not see sadness but happiness.. Wouldn't you love to wake up in the morning & smell the fresh air rather than the smell bombs & Bullets. Wouldn't any lebanese love to walk down the street & see people embracing each other rather than seeing dead & bloody bodies. The other issue is lebanese politicans need to come together & put peoples interests first rather than theres & friends inteterts... I'm sick of living in a world of blame games & militias... I want to live in a world of harmony & understnading.... Enough said... Sam from Downunder |
