Sealed With A Kiss
A day after Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad issued a decree establishing diplomatic ties with Lebanon, the countries' foreign ministers signed a document formalizing the agreement.

This is the first time Syria and its much smaller neighbor have had formal diplomatic relations since they gained independence from France in the 1940's.

The Syrian FM said one of the main joint tasks the two countries face is fighting terrorism. Syria is getting worried that extremist groups are truning their attention to Damascus. Remember that unusual car bomb incident on the airport road in Syria a few weeks ago?

Syria's official news agency reported recently that an embassy will open in the Lebanese capital without providing a timeline. But an official told the Associated Press that the embassy will be operational "before the end of the year."

The idea that this article states that "Syria wants to fight terrorism" is a joke. Lebanon is a Syrian puppet state...the West does nothing and never has the release Lebanon...there's no oil there, why should they? We live in an Orwellian world where Islamofascists use principles expounded the the Nazi Minister of Propagando von Ribbentrop: "the you repeat a lie over and over again it becomes the truth...
the syrian FM wants to fight terrorism?

what a joke.

he should start at home and close the headquarters of the pal terror organizations and stop sending weapons to hizbulla
True, the syrian FM seems to be turning away attention from the fact that Syria had refused for many years to accept Lebanon as a sovereign state; this is the main issue here. It is as if he's
also inferring that Lebanon or parts of it at least constitute a threat to Syria.
Well the lebanese security forces have recently discovered some threads of the latest terrorist bombing that targeted the lebanese army in north Lebanon.
What has Syrian intelligence discovered about those who planned the latest bombing near Damascus? More importantly, what information
have they provided Lebanon about the assassination of the Hezbollah leader Imad Mugniyah in the Syrian capital couple of months back?
Investigating the question of missing Lebanese prisoners in Syria? This is no time for concessions or softness for the Lebanese, especially not for "Syria's allies" in Lebanon.
Lebanon is full of oil. there are numerous foreign and local studies that prove it.

Lebanon has finally proved itself to be a multicultural country where people from different religions live in tolerance and respect together.

"Lebanon is a syrian puppet state" !!!! ????? it's obvious 9:20that you neither know Lebanon's history of fighting syrian nor you know the Lebanese people.

Having diplomatic formal relations with Syria is a only a good and normal step between two independent neighbouring countries.
6.01.say

Lebanon is full of oil. there are numerous foreign and local studies that prove it.

WOW as a Lebanese I have never heard that.

and I never know of Lebanese fighting Syrians. only once in the civil war some Lebanese some of them supported by Israel were fighting Syrian army and other Lebanese.

as for Syria and Lebanon yes I am with diplomatic relations between the two sister states that will bring us closer together.
9:20 Lebanese will be more than happy if the west and other Arab countries would release us instead of constantly interfering in our internal affairs.

For your information, studies conducted by 2 firms Geopracala and TGS confirmed that the sea floor off Lebanon is "petroliferous."
9:28 Were you a Lebanese as you claim, you would known of the Liberation war that Michel Aoun and the Lebanese army conducted against syrian occupation in Lebanon in 1989.
to 1.41.yes I know about Aoun and the Syrians but you forget to mention the war between Aoun and that murderer Gaagaa.at least Aoun was man enough to say that this is the past let us look for the future.while that gangster Gaagaa is still living in the past.you have to agree with me that the war between Gaagaa and Aoun took more Lebanese lives than that between Aoun and the Syrians.as for being Lebanese it is not a claim it is a fact. yes I am, and very proud of it.
2:05 I appreciate your patriotism.

you are right that war that the convicted murderer Geagea conducted against Aoun took innocent lives of young Lebanese in addition to the shooting that Geagea made to officers in the Lebanese army... it is outrageous just thinking of all those crimes that Geagea did also against Dany Chamoun and his children and wife, as well as all of his other crimes.

But Syrian hegemony in Lebanon remained 30 long years during which innocent civilians were killed or kidnapped and taken to Syrian jails where they remained to date.

I have to agree with you that this happened in the last 15 years.but that will be solved by talking to the Syrians not making an enemy of them.Look at the geography .I hope having embassies in Beirut and Damascus will start to solve our problems.
