Israel Still Gripped By Case Of Missing Girl
Jerusalem bureau chief Kevin Flower writes this morning that the entire country continues to be fascinated by the grizly case of a missing four-year girl.It is a complicated and twisted story, that has been making headlines throughout Israel for weeks. Police believe the girl, French citizen Rose Pisam, was killed by her grandfather, who confessed to having stuffed her body in a suitcase and thrown her in a river. Police also suspect the girl's mother - who was in a relationship with her former father-in-law - of involvement in the disappearance. Kevin Flower says: "Police, divers and volunteers are still searching for the body on land and water but the expanded search has yet to turn anything up leading the police to believe that the girl’s grandfather and her confessed killer, Ronny Ron, is deliberately misleading them for fear that retrieval of the body will disprove his contention that he killed his granddaughter accidentally."
Police are currently investigating Rose's disappearance and likely death. Here are the events that led up to the crime.
Benjamin Ron, who was raised by his mother in France, met and had a child with Marie Pisam while living in France. Benjamin's mother revealed to him that it was Israeli Ronny Ron who fathered him. Benjamin and Marie decided to visit Ronny Ron in Israel so he could meet his granddaughter. While in France, Marie Pisam fell in love with Ronny Ron and told Benjamin she intended to stay in Israel. Benjamin returned to Israel with his infant daughter, Rose. Benjamin allegedly neglected Rose, who was reportedly mistreated while in France and shuffled between several child welfare agencies. Marie Pisam started a family with Ronny Ron, giving birth to two daughters. Upon learning of Rose's living conditions, Marie Pisam fought for and won custody of Rose. She took her back to Israel in December. Rose, speaking very little Hebrew or French, was a quiet, reserved child with severe behavioral problems. Marie and Ronny soon found it too difficult to care for her alone. Ronny's mother, Vivian Yaakov, began caring for Rose, but complained to her son that it was too difficult to care for the child. In May, Ronny Ron took the child back. Vivian Yaakov says that is the last time she ever saw Rose. In July, Vivian Yaakov approached child welfare authorities with her concerns. This led to the current investigation into Ronny Ron and Marie Pisam. Ronny Ron has told police conflicting accounts of what happened to Rose. In one account, he claims to have accidentally killed the girl when he hit her too hard for acting up. He subsequently stuffed Rose's body in a suitcase, which he threw in a river. Police are currently investigating all possibilities and have detained both Ronny Ron and Marie Pisam.
Do we have a double standard here? Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden was forced to resign during the 1988 presidential campaign because he plagiarized a speech. On the otherhand, the previous blogger (Sudheer Mopperthy - 2:25 PM)has plagiarized, word for word, an article directly from a web site called Zimbio that was written on August 27th by "JJ". The plagiarized article was easy to find after copying and pasting Sudheer's first paragraph into an Internet search engine (whose name comes from the mathematical term googol). This is not the first time that this has happened on an IME blog. The IME blog entitled "The Israeli Madeleine McCann" also had a plagiarized news article posted by a blogger (Anonymous 4:50 PM). Whether this blogger is now being referred to as "Sudheer Mopperthy" is unclear. What is clear, is the fact that scrolling through that article, readers can see the word "Advertisement" inserted in the middle of the blog. That should be a red flag right there!
Just like Joe Biden had to resign for plagiarism, IME bloggers who plagiarize news articles word for word without quoting their sources should also have to resign from posting blogs. |
