Mideast Snapshot: A Fine Mess
Nablus, West Bank, July 7, 2008. A Palestinian youth looks at damaged items in a school operated by the Islamic group Hamas. (Photo AP)

Israeli troops raided Hamas-funded and operated institutions overnight, confiscating documents and computers in the West Bank town of Nablus.

One of the schools was sealed off and a sign posted on the door that witnessed said reads: "the offices have been closed because they were part of terrorist infrastructure."

Similar operations have already been carried out in Ramallah and Hebron.

This appears to be part of a wider crackdown on Hamas-affiliated schools and institutions, in an effort to strengthen the hand of Hamas rivals Fattah in the West Bank.
what I see is damaged chairs ,desks, books , a pool table and toys.I wonder if Hamas changed tactics and it is using these items to fight Israel.what a shame that the world is watching while Israeli terror on the Palestinians is going on daily.
Of course Hamas is using these items to fight Israel. Fill your school with expensive equipment to attract pupils (equipment you'd be hard to find in most schools even in the west)and then teach them hate. Education could be the path to peace but unfortunately it is being used to prepare the next Palestinian generation of terrorists.
Yes, terrorists. Desks, chairs, books, pool table, and soccer balls. Terrorist activities. The little boy pushing debris off of him. Israel continues its destruction of Palestinian society and everyone is so blind to it. Hamas is gonna teach them to be terrorists with pool tables, soccer and basketballs, microscopes, and so on. Even though Hamas is labeled as terrorists their only crime here is caring about their youth. They build institutions like these also to keep these children in education, playing sports, and games which keeps these kids out of the streets. What about the Palestinian children? Can someone actually look at this picture and not condemn these attacks by Israel? OPEN YOU EYES.
in answer to 6.07.it seems that nothing the Palestinians can do that will change your attitude towards them.you want them not to have education because it teaches them terror.what a twisted logic you have.the problem is not education it is occupation.when Israel stop occupying and stealing Palestinian land and making life miserable for the Palestinian then we will have peace in Palestine.you should know that if sixty years of Israeli terror against the Palestinians did not work then you should try some thing different like stopping the thieves who you call settlers to stop stealing Palestinian properties.
This looks like my kid's classroom during an end of year clear-out, minus the pool table!
The problem is Hamas is teaching children hate. Dont all of you remember the mickey mouse suicide bomber on television in gaza? They brain wash children that suicide makes you a hero. When in truth Islam teaches suicide and the killing of unarmed children is a great sin. They are not teaching anything of truth to those children it would be better they learn at home.
